Description

A rather small but very nice crag in the vicinity of Alingsås where the first routes were put up in the summer of 2004. Due to its relatively easy and well bolted routes has Norsesund become a very popular crag.

ASPECT AND CLIMATE
The crag faces southeast and is in the sun for most of the day. Some parts of the crag are shaded by trees. The routes dry relatively fast. The crag is located in the vicinity of a busy and pretty noisy railway which can be pretty annoying.

THE ROUTES
The routes on the left side of the crag are short, slightly overhanging and quite good. The routes on the right side of the crag are a bit more moderate and longer. All routes but two are bolted and almost all of them are equipped with lower-offs.
Some parts of the crag are a bit porous (be careful).

History

The first routes in Norsesund were developed in the beginning of 21st century. Most of the development, which was mostly done by local climbers form Alingsås, was done between 2004 and 2008 with some easier routes added later on.

Norsesund

Climbing has been limited!

Only parking at commuter parking in Norsesund is OK. Do not park at the railway crossing.

Birds are nesting every year at the crag which means some restrictions. Keep you updated and do not climb close to the nest.

Right now (May 2024) there are ravens nesting at the crag and the land owner wishes no climbing till the end of May.
