This topo will guide your journey on the slopes of Mount Stivo, where the ridge forms numerous rocky walls facing South. Among them, the Pezol and Ir walls stand above Arco and the Alto Garda, creating a captivating climbing environment. Despite modest altitudes, the alpine setting fascinates climbers with its remarkable exposure.
The two Ir walls feature short multi-pitches offering lines around 6a. They are separated by a wooded area housing the Garda trek path, the essential trail for routes’ descents and access to the Pezol wall. Positioned at a higher altitude, the Pezol wall presents longer multi-pitches with heightened exposure. Routes are not that hard, even if there are some challenging pitches, with difficulties around 7a.
Climbing on these walls is marked by technical moves along cracks, dihedrals, and short slabs of good-quality limestone. Descents are easy and straightforward along the well-marked Garda trek path (better explained in the routes’ descriptions. Access to the walls is short for the Ir walls, a bit longer for the Pezol (30 minutes).
Vegetation adorns the walls, reflecting the area's history of route abandonment. Recent efforts of the climbing community have revitalized and cleaned the routes, ensuring climbers are minimally bothered by trees. Basic trad gear, like friends and slings, is sufficient, but the descriptions of the routes offer comprehensive gear guidance.
Thanks to the south-facing exposure, Winter turns out to be an ideal season. Despite shorter days, the manageable route lengths allow for unhurried ascents.

Questa guida guiderà il vostro viaggio sulle pendici del Monte Stivo, dove la dorsale dà vita a numerose pareti rocciose rivolte a sud. Tra queste, le pareti dell’Ir e Pezol si ergono sopra Arco e l'Alto Garda, e, grazie alla notevole esposizione, creano un affascinante ambiente alpino.
Le due pareti Ir raggruppano brevi vie multipitch con difficoltà attorno al 6a. Sono separate da una zona boscosa che ospita il sentiero Garda trek, essenziale per le discese delle vie e l'accesso alla parete Pezol. Posizionata a un'altitudine più elevata, la parete Pezol offre vie multipitch più lunghe con maggiore esposizione. Le vie non sono particolarmente difficili, anche se ci sono alcune lunghezze impegnative, con difficoltà attorno al 7a.
L'arrampicata su queste pareti richiede movimenti tecnici lungo fessure, diedri e brevi placche di calcare di buona qualità. Le discese sono facili e veloci lungo il sentiero Garda trek che è ben segnalato (altre spiegazioni nelle descrizioni delle vie). L'accesso alle pareti è breve per le pareti dell’Ir, un po' più lungo per Pezol (30 minuti).
La vegetazione è ricca sulle pareti, caratteristica che anni fa ha portato ad un parziale abbandono delle vie. I recenti sforzi della comunità di arrampicatori hanno rivitalizzato la zona e sistemato le vie: ora le linee sono disturbate solo minimamente dalla presenza di arbusti. L'attrezzatura richiesta è quella trad di base, come friends e fettucce. Nelle descrizioni delle vie vengono forniti ulteriori dettagli.
Grazie all'esposizione a sud, l'inverno risulta essere la stagione ideale. Nonostante le giornate più brevi, le lunghezze ridotte delle vie permettono di arrampicare senza particolare fretta.
Oltre all'arrampicata, vi consigliamo di esplorare la moltitudine di sentieri attraverso i boschi della zona. Una delle escursioni più interessanti conduce alla vetta del Monte Stivo, che offre viste impareggiabili sull'Alto Garda e sul lago.
