Driving Directions:
From Fayetteville, turn right onto US-19N and drive 17.0 miles and turn LEFT onto WV-129W.

Take WV-129W for 9.9 miles to turn left onto Panther Mountain Road at the Royal Chapel Tipton Church (it is recommended to drive past Backus road at 8.6 miles, which is the route GPS will often take). You will follow this road all the way to the river as it changes names a few times. The key intersections are: After 2.1 miles after the church stay STRAIGHT. Continue 1.6 miles on winding road until a Y intersection with NPS signage -- go RIGHT here to Wood's Ferry. Continue 2.1 miles down to the river, to the last lot with pit toilets. Park here.

From Summersville: Take US-19S about 8.5 miles and turn RIGHT onto WV-129W. Continue with directions as above.

Hiking:
Follow the ATV-width trail from the back corner of the upstream end of the parking lot. This starts by going uphill away from the river then turns to head back down to the water. Once close to the water, continue upstream parallel the river, walking through a sandy beach, a short ways until you reach the boulder. This trail is short with a little elevation change. Total walking time 3 minutes.
