Description

The well-established climbing around North Wales seems to peter out around Porthmadog as one is travelling South so it is a great shame that Carreg yr Ogof sits where it sits. However, if it were anywhere else, it simply wouldn't be quite as magnificent.

Hidden behind the village of Trawsfynedd on the small peninsula jutting out in to the lake, the views across the water and on to the famous Rhinogs are as good as almost anywhere in North Wales; and that really is saying something! And the routes aren't exactly bad either.

With good quality rock that dries very quickly, and some excellent lines that whet the appetite, there is ample here to justify at least one trip further south. Meanwhile there is plenty of untouched rock (or at least undocumented) for the eager to go play at.
