Description

🌞🍂
Both sectors are shady and recommended for summer time or autumn. You can get lucky in spring but forget about winter time.

💧
At specially "Freienfels" is staying wet for quite long time. Better chances you get at "Eiserne Jungfrau"

💪⚙️
At "Freienfels" you find vertical crimpy routes on the left side and steeper glued routes on the right side.
"Eiserne Jungfrau" is located very idyllic close to the river and offer a big varied style of climbing in mid and lower grades.

👶
Once you've crossed the river sector "Eiserne Jungfrau" is perfect for kids.

🍽🍻🛌
Next camping (good cake and coffee) is directly in the village "Freienfels" in walking distance. A good place to be is "Bed and Boulder" in "Schirradorf". Best beer is "Brauerei Hübner" (called "Otto") where you get cheap and good food in an idyllic beer garden

🏊🎸
In Hollfeld is open air swimming pool

Freienfels

The area is access sensitive!

⚠️
At "Eiserne Jungfrau" please keep quiet. The guy who's living next to the crag (whom are the right routes are dedicated to) is quite strange... luckily the house is about to get sold. Anyway the crag is in the middle of the village so keep quite :)

⚠️ Please don't park at the big parking that belongs to the bus operator,

🚗
"Freienfels" is a small village between "Hollfeld" and "Schesslitz" next to the river "Wiesent". Good accessible from Motorway A70, take exit towards "Hollfeld", drive down the road until you get to "Freienfels" to your right. drive downhill through the village to get to the river. Turn right and park immediately to your left.
There is a brand new parking (space for 2 cars) for sector "Eiserne Jungfrau" if you turn left. Parking is just opposite the sector next to the street.

🏃🏼
Eiserne Jungfrau: You can spot the sector across the river. Take the blocks in the river to cross it.

Freienfels: Follow the road upstream the river for 100 meters until you see the big wall reaching the street to your right. There are foot paths to the base left and right of the wall.
