Description

Hiissa is a crag with 2 boulders side by side in a clearcutting area. Main interest is of course "Hiissan kivi", which is a nice big boulder. Rock type is partially very good, and partially a bit on the rough side. Being in the open climbing here is most convenient in the spring and autumn times and the rock dries relatively quickly. In the summertime it can get really hot in the sun here!

Despite being a large boulder the height varies from low to mid-height routes approx 2-5m. In general the landings are safe, and no big pile of pads are necessary. There are mainly vertical and short overhanging routes on the block.

After a snowy winter access to the last 500m of road might be blocked by the snow.

Some recommended routes:
⭐ Pelkoa ja Inhoa Hiissassa
⭐ Paholaisen Masurkka
⭐ Karamel Sutra
⭐ Pyrkyri
⭐ Long Gone Lonesome Man

History

Crag was found by Kimmo N back in 2015. Soon after finding the block Kimmo and Tuukka took a session of brushing and climbing first routes. After that Jari N joined the forces and most of the easier routes were climbed. In 2016 Kimmo took Sami H there to climb the hardest test pieces (Pelkoa ja Inhoa Hiissassa and Hiissan Hohto) of the rock. Btw Hiissan Hohto is still unrepeated in autumn 2022.
