Description

Lawrencefield Quarry is the little brother to it's more impressive bigger brother, Millstone Quarry, situated just the other side of the A6187 road. The one area that Lawrencefield excels in, however, is the quality of its lower-grade routes, something that Millstone is sorely lacking in. The combination of these, together with a selection of superb harder climbs in the Pool Area, ensure that Lawrencefield is a very popular crag, both with locals and visitors.

Conditions and Aspect: The general orientation is southwest, though the left wall of the Pool Area, on which some of the most popular climbs are situated, faces almost due south. The crag is extremely sheltered and can be a great mid-winter venue, though sand washed down from the top after heavy rain may affect certain routes.
