Novakuša is one of the newest sport climbing crags in Herzegovina, offering a collection of long, steep, and demanding routes. The crag features a very quick approach and a striking atmosphere below the Starina Novak cave, making it both visually impressive and physically challenging.
Located along the local road between Mostar and Nevesinje, in the village of Bišina, Novakuša sits at approximately 800 m above sea level. Thanks to its elevation and aspect, it serves as an excellent summer alternative to the lower and hotter crags around Mostar and Blagaj.
The crag is best suited for experienced climbers, with an emphasis on endurance climbing on steep terrain, but also provides enough 6 graded routes for various climbing levels!
Route development at Novakuša began with the first ascents and equipping carried out by Matjaž Zorko and Jošt Hren. Further development followed through the efforts of local climber Denis Serdarević (Zenica), in collaboration with ASPK Neretva, SPK Blagaj, and Milorad Dragović(Nevesinje).
Significant contributions were also made in the summer of 2025 on a bolting weekend organised by Denis and ASPK Neretva, SPK Blagaj, Milorad and leading Croatian climbers Igor Čorko, Ivan Ljubičić, Siniša Škalec, Vedran Vračar, Jere Cokarić, and Boris Čujić, helping establish Novakuša as a high-quality, hard climbing destination.
For continued development and equipping, please contact Milorad Dragović, Denis Serdarević, SPK Blagaj, or ASPK Neretva.
