Ramnaslätt

Ramnaslätt is a nice sport climbing area just outside the centre of Borås with more than 40 bolted, well varied and often pumping sport routes.

Do not use the fixed carabiners for top rope climbing. Please use your own!

It is your own responsibility to climb safely. Neither the landowner, the club or the municipality nor anyone else is responsible for any bolts or firing anchors. If you want to do new routes, contact Borås Klätterklubb (climbing club) first.

CLIMATE
The crag faces south. The forest in front of the crag was thoroughly thinned out by the City of Borås in 2020, which means that most of the crag is in the sun throughout the day. Parts of the crag dry slowly in the early spring as the water from above flows through cracks in the rock. But once it dries, it takes a lot of rain for it to flow through. The entire rock is usually climbable from April, but some parts of it already from February/March.

THE ROUTES
The climbing at Ramnaslätt is mostly vertical or slightly overhanging, but you can also find steep slabs and some routes with smaller roofs. The routes are up to 20 m long, well bolted and all equipped with lower-offs with carbines. Ramnaslätt is perfect for the climber who wants to get a lot of 6c climbing into their system.

The major development of the crag was done between 1997 and 2001 mainly by Ulf Mälkki Ahlberg who made half of the by then 32 routes. Anders Holmin and Mark Jansson Kragh among others have also contributed with several climbing routes in the area. The crag area was updated in 2017 when John Niklasson and Erik Nilsson cleared most of the routes and a new, shorter and better approach was made. At the end of 2022 and beginning of 2023, Henric Bjuvéus cleared away trees and branches all around the crag, dug out the exits, cleared all the routes once more and made 12 new routes. He also added the old routes with some extra hangers to make them safer and comply with new regulations.
