Rokkala Boulder

Rokkala boulder is a new bouldering spot only about 1,5km from Mikkeli city center. It is the easiest one in Mikkeli to find and reach. The climbing possibilities are great too; there is everything from slabs to overhangs, low to high walls.

There are some easier problems on the low walls, great for kids and beginners, but also a lot of potential for harder ones. Feel free to make new routes.

Landings are mainly pretty good, so with a spotter you should be ok even with only one crashpad. If you go solo at least two pads are recommended. The more the better.

Be respectful toward others and follow basic manners: don’t leave trash in the nature, park your car smart etc.

A small group of friends noticed the climbing possibilities of Rokkala boulder and started training there during the spring of 22. It quickly became their go to place for bouldering and team ROBO was formed to maintain the spot.

During the summer of 22 a lot of cleaning was done in the area (it was very trashy) and some lines were brushed open. There are not so many of them at the moment by the fall of 22, but most of them have a lot of options for fun eliminations and harder betas.

There has been no serious climbing before, but locals have known the boulder for a long time and it has been a place for young people to hang out.
