Description

🚶‍♂️ 20' - ⛰️ 260 MSL - 🧭 E - ☀️ during the morning

What a cave! Sottocoi is an unexpected gem hidden by the forests of the slopes of Adige valley.
The crag features a huge cave collecting a bunch of physical lines on tufas and pockets. If you are skilled with overhanging and horizontal climbing, this small sector would be a great choice.
There are almost 30 lines, ranging from 6a to 8c, that are generally not too long and always really physical.
Thanks to the steepness of the wall, it is possible to climb also when it is raining.
Best conditions are in the mid seasons, since Summer could be quite humid and Winter too cold.
The approach to the crag is a bit longer compared to the usual approaches that Arco has accustomed us to, but it is just 20 minutes on a good path. The crag base is comfortable.

Sottocoi is rarely frequented and is a really relaxing place. If you are climbing in this area and you like the overhangs, do not miss the crazy good Ciclopi sector!

History

This crag was discovered by Alessandro Arduini in 2013, who started bolting the walls with the help of Andrea Simonini, strong climber and great bolter of the valley, Valentino Farinola, Ivan Maghella and Cristiano Pastorello.
