Description

St-Triphon is a lead climbing destination with more than 120 routes. The rock at St-Triphon can be quite polished, but don't let that discourage you. Despite the polished surface, the holds offer a technical and interesting climb. In the Dalle Nord area, there are many routes for beginners to get their start, but don't be fooled, St-Triphon has something for everyone. The Mur Jaune wall is a standout with its intricate technical moves. And on the Left Wall, you'll find some of the hardest routes in Valais, up to 9a.

When visiting St-Triphon, keep in mind that the area is a privately owned climbing site and is dedicated to climbing and recreation. There is a new access path on the extreme right of the quarry, which should be used instead of crossing the quarry. Public toilets are available in the village. Please remember to pack out all trash and leave the area better than you found it. And, just a short 5-minute walk from the parking area, you'll find yourself at the base of the climbing area ready to take on the challenge.

History

St-Triphon is a historical climbing area in Valais, known for its hard routes on the left that have attracted strong climbers over the years. Main developers Laurent Monnet and Louis Piguet have contributed to the development of over 120 routes at the site. Initially a limestone quarry, St-Triphon became a popular climbing destination in the 1970s and was acquired by the Foundation Nicole Debarge in 2004 for public enjoyment and preservation.
