Description

The Valbona Valley National Park (Albanian: Parku Kombëtar i Luginës së Valbonës) is a national park inside the Albanian Alps in northern Albania. The park covers a total area of 80 km2, encompassing Valbona River and its surrounding areas with mountainous terrain, alpine landscapes, glacial springs, deep depressions, various rock formations, waterfalls and the Valbona Valley itself with its dense coniferous and deciduous forest.
It is characterised by its very remote areas which have a large preserved ecosystem all of which is primarily untouched with pristine quality. This vast ecosystem is the centrepiece of what has been referred to
as 'the Miracle of the Albanian Alps'.
Making it more interesting, Valbona Valley has a great potential to offer in terms of outdoors activities, such as
the wonderful trail Peaks of The Balkans, a huge potential for hikes, alpine climbing and as well bouldering.
This is just the first edition of the guidebook, but we are encouraging anyone to share our passion for this
activity and develop the full potential of the Valley. This is just the beginning of the huge potential that Valbona
has to offer.

History

The first ascents in the valley have been started earlier than this guide, but in 2021 we established the routes on almost 30 boulders, and there is many more to be developed in the near future.
