Description

Val Bodengo is among the westernmost valleys of the province of Sondrio and is crossed by Boggia stream. This area is characterized by its wild and secluded nature, with an alpine environment and cow pastures. But the most important thing is that we found here a small gem for the world of climbing!
The boulder area of Val Bodengo is really interesting, offering almost 100 boulders of easy-medium difficulties. But there is still something harder up to 7B and some challenging overhangs waiting for a first ascent. The quality of the rock is high and the friction is good.
Landings are generally good and it is easy to set the pads at the base of the boulders.
Since the area is located at 1200 meters above sea level, it is possible to find fresh temperatures also during the Summer.
The approach to the sectors is easy and child friendly.

Close to the boulder sectors, there is a beautiful stone village called Corte Terza that makes the area really suggestive (see pics). The valley has nice trails and it is also possible to practice canyoning in the Boggia stream. Halfway between the two areas, there is a fountain where it is possible to collect water.

History

Boulder in Val Bodengo was discovered by a group of English climbers, followed by team Passaggio Obbligato, led by Roberto Capucciati and Paolo Liborio.
The area was finally enhanced by the great work of Gino Notari, Mino Rusconi, Mimmo Neri and Vera Notari, who spent a lot of time cleaning the boulders and setting new lines.
