Description

Bosch Kloof, without a doubt, offers some of the best climbing in the whole of Montagu, and arguably in the Western Cape, between the grades of 17/5c and 22/6c. Scattered over a number of crags stretching up a beautiful kloof, Bosch Kloof is certainly one of my favourite hangouts in Montagu. Every crag has something special and unique to offer, with Bosch Crag giving some of the best 21s in the area. For the more adventurous, Skull Crag is a must, with a clutch of superb, long routes on a high wall at the head of the Kloof. The climbing is mostly of a vertical nature, with many routes close to 30 metres in length and some closer to 40 metres. And for beginners, Ramset Crag has some good single- and double-pitch routes as well as some harder stuff to keep you on your toes.

🧗Bosch:
A beautiful, vertical chocolate brown wall with a bunch of uber-classic routes.
🧗Ramset
Perfect for beginners and summer mornings. Has some nice double-pitch routes. Master of Rings and Hannah’s Wine Tour are particularly good.
🧗Forest
A shortish crag with some unusual moves on pleasant routes. Trees at the base provide good shade.
🧗Hilti
A short steeply vertical crag with some fingery routes.
🧗Twin Fins
The steepest crag in Bosch Kloof, with three pumpy routes up an attractive fin.
🧗Skull
Beautiful high crag in a remote setting. Long routes of impeccable quality.
🧗Matrix
A steep, quality crag with a pile of good routes that deserve more attention. Although included under Bosch Kloof, this crag is not strictly in Bosch Kloof and therefore does not suffer the same access restrictions as the rest of Bosch Kloof.
