Description

Though not extensive, Higgar Tor is one of the jewels of the Eastern Edges. Pride of place undoubtedly goes to its magnificent Leaning Block a huge, gravity-defying cube of Gritstone standing sentinel over the valley like some natural Tower of Pisa. The climbs on its overhanging side rank along with the best hard routes on grit, while the merely vertical walls to the left and right of the block provide enjoyable outings at more amenable grades.

Conditions and Aspect: Orientation — southwest. This bold, exposed crag is open to the elements and very fast drying. The ever-present wind can be hateful on cold days, but a blessing on midgey mid-summer evenings.
