Description

🚶‍♂️ 5’ - ⛰️ 1820 MSL - 🧭 W - ☀️ in the afternoon

Poza vecia is an historic crag at the feet of the Dolomite peaks of the Brenta group.
It is located in a fresh alpine environment and turns out to be a great destination for the Summer mornings. In fact, thanks to its height of 1800 meters above sea level, one could find good friction also during the hottest days.
Climbing is really technical, on small crimps and many slopers. Lines are really tough and require good footwork and finger strength. The over 40 routes range from 4+ to 8a and the best lines are around 6c/7a. Rock is a rough limestone with small edges and some pockets. Some lines reach 30 meters in height, others are way shorter.
The crag base is not large, but safe and quite comfortable. Approach is short.

We highly recommend this place to escape the hot summer days of Arco and also to admire the magnificent Brenta Dolomites group. Don't forget to spend a day walking on its splendid slopes and, why not, also tackling some of the best alpine routes in Trentino.

History

Poza vecia is an historic crag that in the past was feared for its widely spaced bolting. Now everything has changed, since lines have been re-bolted and protections are now at a perfect distance.
The crag developed first in the 1990, thanks to the huge effort of the local climbers as Piergiorgio Vidi, Sandro Vidi, Pio Ferrari, Ermanno Salvaterra and many others.
