HOW TO GET THERE
DRIVE
Main Entrance Parking
From Cape Town, get onto the N2 and then M3. Continue on the M3 for about 3.6km until you see the 'Newlands Fire Base' sign on the right situated on the middle barrier of the freeway. Follow this into the parking area beneath the trees.
Note: Click on a boulder named "The Classroom - Paths Map & Topo". This will bring up a picture of the paths and landmarks that are mentioned in the approach description below. With all the tree cover it is difficult to draw in a TRAIL on the MAP, however we did include a TRAIL on the MAP but it is merely a rough guide to give you an idea of the location you are headed. Please note that the Paths Map is not perfect and there will be minor mistakes here and there, which will be corrected over time.
APPROACH: 25 minutes
From the parking walk up a tar road (1) turning left. Continue along the road until you reach Bridge A after 3 minutes and immediately turn right after the bridge onto 2 that begins as a wooden walkway. Follow the path up parallel with the river past a wide track (converges from the left) and on up to a gravel road. Head straight up the road a little and directly ahead take another path (3) that used to start with wooden steps but is now mainly tree roots. Follow this up, then through some fallen trees, and up further to the remains of the Woodcutter signboard (a metal post is all that remains) and turn right onto 4. Continue a short way crossing four little rocky streams, just after that you should be able to see the Continuous Assessment boulder on the right close to the path.
