Classic for a reason

Found this nails. Thought it'd go quickly after having had a dabble before. Two sessions later and having dropped the last move three times got it done. First proper 7C on Peak Lime.

Took a bit of working out but managed in a couple of goes from start. Adds good moves to the stand. Even with various hold breakages still struggle to see how the line, climbed logically and as a non-eliminate, could ever have been 7C+!!

Good problem. Shame the rock is so fragile!

Very good, been wanting to do for ages, really good line which makes a change for limestone.

Loved this. Amazing move bringing feet up to delicately get the top without barn dooring.

Hard pull on and slap. Felt a fair bit harder than Delta for me.

Powerful little thing. Left side of the rail soaked from seepage so couldn't do the full problem.

Took more goes than I'd have liked. Unbelievably sharp holds; horrible, and not exactly amazing moves either. Suppose it's always dry.

Have always wanted to do but not tried before. Handful of goes. Can't wait to do it from the floor.

Second go from the start after a failed flash attempt and working the crux move. Fantastic climbing, big boomer roof manoeuvre!

A total one move wonder from the obvious/natural stand start, and a really weird/knacky move at that. Did it quite unexpectedly just before the rain came in. Can see why the grade is so contentious but I honestly can't say it's any more than 7C for me and even that feels a bit generous.

Fun climbing but slightly disappointing that the arete itself is so eliminate.

Finally. Taken far longer than I'd hoped. Dropped the move to the ear something like 10 times in the last 4 sessions but felt steady away today. Great moves.

Very good move, but very, very soft for those with a generous span. Felt easier than The John Dunne Slap at Earl.

Lovely line and fun climbing. Exciting top out! Doesn't climb quite as purely as you might like though, and the difficult landing knocks a star off too.

Get in. Lived less than 10 mins drive away for nearly 2 years and couldn't see it off then over at least half a dozen sessions. Great to come back 2 years later and just do it in a couple of hours, although was still a fight and was quite surprised to still be clinging on through the finish!! Excellent problem, would be 3 stars if it wasn't for the awkwardness of the end. Harder than 7C as well.

Remember trying this years ago and leaving without my knuckles! Few goes today. Very atypical for the Cliff which is nice.

Wonderful padding. All about trusting those smears.

Better climbing than Stu's I think. Warmed up and did it in less than 90mins today having dropped it near the top quite a few times on Friday; well chuffed.

Pleased. Have dabbled over the years but always struggled; good to knuckle down and do it in 2 sessions.

Great problem. Should have flashed but dropped the last hard move more out of fear than anything else.

Had always struggled with the move to the ear but finally sussed it and then did fairly easily from start. Nice to do something new.

Get in, 2.5 years of effort culminating in a little mini siege to see it off at last. Sitting on top in the dark, by myself, was a pretty special moment.

Incredibly psyched to finally do this link. Loads of sessions over several seasons and had never even managed the big crux move on the link, let alone then taken it to the top. Full thing next.

Excellent. Hard last move, took a few attempts but did it first time I used the tiny crimp in the crack as an intermediate.

Surprisingly good climbing. Painful pockets.

Took a while to figure out how to pull on. Powerful!

Spent ages trying to do the lower start before eventually giving up and pulling on with RH high and LH low. Good moves from there at least.

Surprisingly fun and powerful moves. Massively sketched it on the ascent but they all count.

One of the best lines in the Peak. Remember walking up the green drive years ago having just started climbing indoors, seeing this and thinking it looked good. Surprised myself getting to the break fairly quickly today, but then took a scary fall as my hand ripped off the flake! Managed to compose myself and do it next go.

Class problem, good line and moves, in a lovely spot. First tried it October 2018 at the start of two weeks off work; didn't do it and split my tip! Finally got round to going back today and it didn't give in easily.

Dreamed of doing this one for years. Stars finally aligned. An incredible boulder problem.

Get in, what a problem. One of Yorkshire's absolute best. Especially pleased to get it quickly first session this season, having had three on it towards the end of 2018.

Brick hard for 7A+. Harder than Neanderthal stand anyway. Good moves once you've worked it out! Sitter next time.

Good moves. Surprised myself latching the dyno second go.

Using the sequence with the big blocky sidepull. Hard tension move to get that, then a great roll through and double tap dyno to get the jug; felt like the kind of move you see people doing on 8Bs in Rocklands. Glad to do it first go today after a quick go on the moves last week.

Third go from the start. Great problem, nice holds, good rock; what more do you want!

Hard, frustrating move into the first undercling. Did it after only a few goes but think I was really lucky as I couldn't then repeat it whilst trying the right hand finish. A very good problem anyway.

Lots of goes trying lots of different things. Eventually decided to try it with the RH crimp. Maybe the smallest, sharpest hold I've ever used, but it worked! Tough to grade as it's a pure test of finger strength and pain tolerance.

Second go punter this trip! To be fair, I was using it as a warm up.

I wonder whether the grade discrepancy is related to the line and holds some people take. Have seen videos where people don't use the jugs out left for hands, but do so for feet. Weirdly eliminate to do it that way. Anyway, what I did felt right for 7C. Good moves on rough rock.

Made my trip. Dropped the last move twice the day before, totally gassed. Came back next afternoon in great conditions, warmed up on it and fired it off first go. Couldn't have had another! So glad to get it over the line on the last opportunity of the trip. Worth an upgrade in my opinion, easily as hard as any other 8 I've done.

How did this get left all those years?! Outstanding boulder problem with a great, crux, heartbreaker move to finish. Glad to get it first go, second session.

Struggled with this! Thought it would suit me perfectly but wasn't the case at all. Super knacky move that took ages to figure out. Ended up doing it last possible try at the end of a big day out, core completely shot and totally knackered.

First boulder in Rocklands!

Pulled on from RH pocket and LH undercling, felt most logical and about right for the grade.

Adds a good couple of moves and makes the problem a bit less of a two move wonder.

First go at the end of a session today but couldn't touch it last year. Feels really bunched for me standing up into the undercut. Good to do it with zero fuss.

4th go today, but first when I remembered to place the heel a bit higher for the match move. Steady away.

2nd go today, easy peasy.

Excellent arete padding, and a great line. Certainly high enough at the top to give you a flutter. Second go after dropping with hands on the arete to test the fall.

Brilliant move, felt easy on the send but can imagine it being very frustrating. Pleased to get it in a session.

Been wanting to try this for ages. Didn't disappoint; great moves but not 7C in my opinion. So psyched for the sitter.

Very good indeed. Quite atypical for grit being essentially a series of big yarding moves between positive edges. Nice line as well.

The knackiest thing to get started on but once I'd finally figured out how to pull on it went easily. Never seen 8A, I've done 7Cs that felt harder. Edit: in fact, on reflection 7C might even be quite generous!

So good. Totally surreal, wonderful moment just doing it on the flash. Got every hold and body position right and simply floated to the top. Superb problem.

Perhaps should have gone for the flash! Did the top moves all first go on a rope then first real go from the start and did it. Fantastic problem in a lovely spot, top 10 all time for me.

A totally logical starting point and a brutally hard pull on and first move in compression. Really pleased with this one. Possible second ascent?

Thought this was brilliant. Did it via the gastons rather than as per the description with the big undercut. Probably still 7B+ and maybe tough for that. Superb, shouldery, techy movement.

Pretty much a perfect technical boulder problem, but about as gripped as I've ever been! Standing on the pebbles to the mantle the first break was terrifying.

Fantastic. The sit really does provides a wonderful sequence when added to the stand. Tried on a couple of previous occasions and couldn't figure it out at all but just about managed to scrape up it today with the absolute last of the light!

Really hard for 7B if you ask me, certainly compared to others at Caley. Very good though.

Satisfying. First go from the start today after reminding myself of the moves. Actually good movement and it felt tough. I've struggled in the past on this one and it's taken a long time to build up sufficient finger strength to feel solid on those little holds.

Topped out properly this time. Great problem and a lovely feeling padding up the top slab in the gradually fading light.

Taken ages this, real nemesis problem mainly due to fear I think. Very satisfying to finally do it.

Second go today, but have struggled in the past in warm conditions. Satisfying.
